Hi and welcome back to our blog.
Hopefully by now you have familiarized yourself with our website and FaceBook page. Now that you know a little bit more about FruitShare Barrie and what we do, we would like to know a bit more about what you know. Help us by becoming a Fruit Spotter. It is easy to do, and a great way to connect with your community. Simply download our flyers (below) and when you see a fruit tree in your neighbourhood drop off a flyer as an introduction to FruitShare Barrie. Fill out the Tree Recruitment Sheet and send us a quick note to let us know where you saw the tree and you have helped us in mapping the residential trees in Barrie.
We can only do it with your help. The job is so large, it is going to take our whole community to do it. It is our hope to map all the residential and city fruit and nut bearing trees.
We think it will be a fun community event to go out there, meet your neighbours and record the trees. Once we work out the logistics we want to make this a fun community contest. With prizes for the most trees recorded. But until we get the contest figured out – it is up to you – Get out there with your church or community group. Let’s get everyone involved. If you are in a walking group, change your routes, and get to know your city. After such a long and hard winter let’s enjoy the weather and get to know the people of Barrie.
